How to perform Barbell Incline Bench Press

  1. Use a fixed incline bench-press station, or position an incline-capable bench inside a squat rack or power rack.
  2. If the bench is adjustable, use approximately a 30-degree incline as a starting setup for upper-chest emphasis; a fixed incline is also permissible.
  3. Lie back with your feet planted and grip the bar evenly with your palms facing forward.
  4. Unrack the bar and hold it above your upper chest.
  5. Lower the bar under control toward your upper chest with your forearms approximately vertical.
  6. Press upward to the starting position without changing your torso position.
  7. Return the bar securely to its supports after the set.
