Technique

How to perform Barbell Incline Shoulder Raise

  1. Set an incline-capable bench inside the chosen rack and lie back with the bar within reach.
  2. Grip the bar slightly wider than shoulder width, unrack it and hold it above you with straight elbows.
  3. Keeping that arm position, reach upward by moving your shoulder blades around your rib cage and slightly away from the bench.
  4. Pause without turning the movement into an elbow press or a front raise.
  5. Allow the shoulder blades to return under control, then repeat.
  6. Return the bar securely to the rack after the set.
