Cable Lateral Raise (Hip Height)
Also called Cable Side Raises (Hip Height)
Technique
How to perform Cable Lateral Raise (Hip Height)
- Set the cable machine pulley to hip height and attach a single handle.
- Stand sideways to the machine, holding the handle in the hand farther from the machine. Your feet should be shoulder-width apart and knees slightly bent.
- Begin with your working arm down at your side and your palm facing your body.
- Keep your core braced and maintain a slight bend in your elbow. This is your starting position.
- Exhale as you raise the handle out to your side in a smooth arc, focusing on engaging your lateral deltoid. Avoid swinging your body or using momentum.
- Keep your shoulder down and neck relaxed.
- Continue lifting until your arm is about parallel with the floor or just slightly above, depending on your range of motion. Pause briefly at the top of the movement, then slowly lower the handle back to the starting position while inhaling.
- Maintain control throughout the descent.
- Repeat for the prescribed repetitions before switching arms.
