Technique
How to perform Decline Russian Twist
- Adjust the decline bench to a comfortable angle and secure your feet under the ankle pads, knees slightly bent for stability.
- Lie back on the bench with your lower back pressed into the pad and clasp your hands lightly behind your head (or hold a light plate against your chest).
- Engage your core to lift your torso until it is parallel with the floor and keep your chin tucked. This is your starting position.
- Exhale as you rotate your torso to the right, driving the movement from your obliques while keeping your hips and legs fixed. Avoid pulling on your neck with your hands.
- Pause briefly once your right elbow is near your right thigh or as far as your mobility allows, maintaining tension in your core.
- Inhale as you return to the center under control, then immediately exhale as you twist to the left, bringing your left elbow toward your left thigh.
- Continue alternating sides for the recommended number of repetitions, keeping each twist smooth and controlled without momentum.
