Technique

How to perform Decline Russian Twist

  1. Adjust the decline bench to a comfortable angle and secure your feet under the ankle pads, knees slightly bent for stability.
  2. Lie back on the bench with your lower back pressed into the pad and clasp your hands lightly behind your head (or hold a light plate against your chest).
  3. Engage your core to lift your torso until it is parallel with the floor and keep your chin tucked. This is your starting position.
  4. Exhale as you rotate your torso to the right, driving the movement from your obliques while keeping your hips and legs fixed. Avoid pulling on your neck with your hands.
  5. Pause briefly once your right elbow is near your right thigh or as far as your mobility allows, maintaining tension in your core.
  6. Inhale as you return to the center under control, then immediately exhale as you twist to the left, bringing your left elbow toward your left thigh.
  7. Continue alternating sides for the recommended number of repetitions, keeping each twist smooth and controlled without momentum.
