How to perform Kneel-to-Standing Overhead Dumbbell Hold

  1. Begin in a tall‑kneeling position with your knees hip‑width apart and toes dug into the floor.
  2. Press a pair of dumbbells overhead so your arms are fully extended, palms facing one another, and your biceps are in line with your ears.
  3. Brace your core, draw your ribs down, and squeeze your glutes to keep a neutral spine.
  4. This is your starting position.
  5. Maintaining the overhead hold, step your right foot forward and plant it firmly, creating a half‑kneeling stance without letting the weights drift or your torso lean.
  6. Drive through your right heel and engage your left glute to rise to a full standing position, keeping the dumbbells locked out overhead and your shoulders packed.
  7. Reverse the motion by stepping your left knee back to the floor, followed by your right, returning to the tall‑kneel start while controlling the weights overhead.
  8. Repeat for the recommended number of repetitions, alternating the lead leg each time and keeping the overhead dumbbells stable and your core engaged throughout.
