Lateral Monster Walk
Technique
How to perform Lateral Monster Walk
- Place a loop resistance band around both legs just above your knees (or at your ankles for more difficulty) and stand with your feet hip‑width apart.
- Hinge slightly at the hips, bend your knees into an athletic quarter‑squat, and brace your core while keeping your chest tall - this is your starting position.
- Exhale as you step your right foot laterally far enough to maintain band tension without letting the knee collapse inward, pressing out against the band to maintain tension and preventing your knees from collapsing inward.
- Follow by sliding your left foot in the same direction until you return to hip‑width stance, keeping constant band tension and remaining in the quarter‑squat.
- Continue “monster walking” to the right for the prescribed number of steps or distance, then reverse the pattern by leading with your left foot to travel back to the left.
- Maintain a steady tempo, upright torso, and continuous outward pressure against the band throughout all repetitions.
