Technique

How to perform Log Lift

  1. Stand close to the log on the floor, bend at your hips and knees, and grip its internal handles.
  2. Brace your trunk and lift the log close to your legs, then bend your knees and sit back enough to support it on your thighs.
  3. Draw the log close to your chest and drive through your legs and hips, rolling it up your torso into the front rack.
  4. Settle the log against your upper chest with your elbows forward and enough head clearance for the press.
  5. Make a short knee dip, then drive upward through your legs to start the log moving.
  6. Continue pressing by straightening your elbows, bringing your head under the log as it clears and finishing with the load controlled overhead.
  7. Lower the log to the rack and then through the lap to the floor under control, keeping it close to your body.
  8. Reset your grip and body position before the next full clean and push press.
