Parallel Pulldown
Technique
How to perform Parallel Pulldown
- Adjust the seat and thigh pad on the lat pulldown machine so that your legs are securely locked in place.
- Use the parallel grip (wide neutral grip) attachment.
- Sit upright with your chest out and maintain a slight arch in your lower back.
- Lean back very slightly but keep your torso still during the movement. This is your starting position.
- Exhale as you pull the handles down toward your upper chest, driving your elbows down and back. Focus on squeezing your shoulder blades together to engage your lats. Pause briefly at the bottom of the motion, feeling the contraction in your back muscles, then slowly allow the handles to rise back to the starting position while inhaling.
- Keep the movement controlled and avoid using momentum or jerking motions.
- Maintain the slight arch in your back throughout the exercise.
- Repeat for the prescribed repetitions.
