How to perform Pigeon Pose (basic hip stretch)

  1. From hands and knees, bring one knee forward behind the same-side wrist and angle its foot toward the opposite hand.
  2. Extend the other leg behind you and keep the front heel near the pelvis if a wider shin angle strains the knee.
  3. Support the front-side pelvis on a folded towel or block as needed, then stay upright or fold forward over the front leg.
  4. Keep pressure out of the front knee. Press into your hands, move back to all fours, and change sides.
