Reaching Sit-up
Technique
How to perform Reaching Sit-up
- Lie on your back with your knees bent about 90 degrees and feet flat on the floor, hip-width apart.
- Extend both arms straight up toward the ceiling with palms facing each other.
- Brace your core by pressing your lower back gently into the floor - this is your starting position.
- Exhale as you curl your torso upward, lifting your head, shoulders, and then your upper back off the floor while reaching your fingertips past your knees toward your toes.
- Keep your arms straight and focus on driving the movement from your abdominals, not using momentum.
- Pause briefly at the top when your torso is near vertical and you feel maximal contraction in your abs.
- Inhale as you slowly lower your torso back down in reverse order - upper back, shoulders, then head - until your shoulder blades lightly touch the floor, arms returning to the vertical start position.
- Repeat for the prescribed repetitions, maintaining a controlled tempo and consistent core engagement throughout.
