Technique

How to perform Reverse Nordic Stretch

  1. Kneel with the shins on the floor and the hips extended above the knees; an exercise mat is optional.
  2. Keep the torso and thighs aligned without deliberately arching the lower back or throwing the head backward.
  3. Lean backward by allowing the knees to bend further, keeping the hips extended rather than sitting back toward the heels.
  4. Place the hands on the floor behind you for support as needed and hold the rearward position at the intended quadriceps stretch.
  5. Use that support to return to upright kneeling under control instead of turning the return into an unsupported strength repetition.
