How to perform Sledgehammer Swings

  1. Place the tire flat and stand far enough away for the hammer head to reach it without the handle striking your body.
  2. Take a staggered stance with one hand near the end of the handle and the other nearer the hammer head.
  3. Raise the hammer diagonally beside your body, allowing the upper hand to slide toward the head.
  4. Turn through the trunk and bring the hammer down onto the tire, letting the upper hand slide toward the lower hand.
  5. Maintain control of the handle as the hammer rebounds, then reset before the next strike.
  6. Change the leading hand and stance to work the opposite diagonal.
