Standing Barbell Calf Raise

Technique
How to perform Standing Barbell Calf Raise
- Set the bar in a squat rack at an appropriate unracking height and place it across the muscular upper back, not the neck.
- Grip the bar securely, stand to unrack it and take only the steps needed to establish your working position.
- Use the floor, or place both forefeet securely on an aerobic step, calf raise block or broad stable weight plate intended to support the load.
- Keep your torso steady and your knees nearly straight at a fixed angle throughout each repetition.
- Press through the forefeet to raise your heels without bouncing or bending and straightening the knees.
- Lower the heels under control to the floor, or into the available ankle range below the riser, without losing your footing.
- After the set, return the bar to the rack under control.
