Technique

How to perform Standing Cable Lift

  1. Attach one D-handle to a low cable pulley and stand sideways to it with your feet about shoulder-width apart.
  2. Hold the handle with both hands, step out to take up slack and bend your knees and hips into a shallow squat with the handle near the pulley-side hip.
  3. Keep a small, fixed bend in the elbows as you sweep the handle diagonally upward across your body.
  4. Straighten your legs and turn through the hips and torso with the lift, allowing the trailing foot to pivot.
  5. Finish with the arms elevated above the opposite shoulder without leaning backward to extend the range.
  6. Reverse the same diagonal path under control, turning back and bending the legs into the starting position.
  7. Complete the chosen repetitions, then turn around and repeat on the other side.
