Technique

How to perform Beginner Shrimp Squat

  1. Stand on your right foot with your left knee bent at 90 degrees so the thigh is vertical and shin parallel to the floor, arms extended forward for balance.
  2. Engage your core and keep your chest lifted as you stabilize on your supporting leg.
  3. Inhale as you bend your right knee and hinge slightly forward, lowering your left knee toward the ground until you reach a half-kneeling position with the left knee touching the ground.
  4. Pause briefly while maintaining tension through your right quad.
  5. Exhale as you press through your right heel, extending your knee and returning to the upright starting position while keeping your left leg in the 90-degree bend.
  6. Repeat for the prescribed repetitions before switching legs.
