Figa
Technique
How to perform Figa
- Kick into a wide straddle handstand with elbows locked, shoulders depressed, and legs opened about 120 degrees.
- Shift your hips and shoulders slightly toward the support hand while pressing harder through that palm and fingertips.
- Pike your hips deeply, lowering both legs behind you until they angle roughly horizontal.
- Lighten the opposite hand from palm to fingertips, then lift it off the floor and thread it straight down between your legs.
- Hold the heavily piked one-arm position, keeping your body rigid, shoulders square, and base elbow fully locked for the prescribed duration.
- Return the free hand to the floor, re-center your hips over both hands, and lower from the handstand with control.
