Handstand Lower to Back Lever
Technique
How to perform Handstand Lower to Back Lever
- Set the rings to a height that lets you safely kick or press into a straight‑body handstand above them. From a solid support hold (elbows locked, rings turned out, core and glutes tight), either tuck‑press or kick up, stacking your hips over your shoulders and finishing in a stable rings handstand. Squeeze the rings together enough to keep them shoulder‑width, turn the biceps forward, and lock your elbows.
- Engage a strong hollow body by drawing the ribs down and squeezing the glutes; this is your starting position.
- Inhale, then initiate the descent by leaning your shoulders slightly forward while keeping the rings fixed and elbows straight. Allow your hips and feet to begin moving past vertical as you maintain a rigid hollow line.
- Control the negative by flexing your lats and abs while the rings rotate inward.
- Keep your gaze on the horizon as your body passes through an inverted‑planche angle, hips leading the arc while shoulders stay depressed.
- Exhale as you continue lowering until your torso is parallel to the ground, face toward the floor, legs together, and body fully straight - this is the back‑lever position. Squeeze your glutes, quads, and lats hard to hold the line without arching.
- Pause for the prescribed duration, then either re‑tuck and roll back up or pull through to support, always maintaining straight elbows and active shoulder engagement to finish the rep safely.
