Technique

How to perform Iron Cross

  1. Adjust the rings so they hang at a height where you can clear the floor when your arms are fully extended. Chalk your hands and grasp the rings with a false grip, elbows locked, and turn the rings slightly out.
  2. Press into a solid support hold by depressing your shoulders, engaging your core and glutes, and keeping your body tall and straight.
  3. Begin lowering by slowly abducting your arms outward while maintaining straight elbows and an active hollow body.
  4. Control the descent by squeezing your lats, chest, and biceps, keeping the rings turning out as your arms move away from your torso.
  5. Continue until your arms form a straight horizontal line from ring to ring - this is the full iron cross position.
  6. Hold steady, breathing calmly, and maintain shoulder depression and total body tension. To exit, reverse the motion by powerfully adducting your arms, squeezing your chest and lats to return to the support hold under control.
  7. Repeat for the prescribed duration or repetitions, prioritizing immaculate form and shoulder stability throughout.
