Technique

How to perform Iron Cross to Back Lever

  1. Grasp the rings with a false grip and press to a solid support hold - elbows locked, rings slightly turned out, core and glutes tight.
  2. Slowly abduct your arms, lowering under control into a full iron‑cross position with the rings level with your shoulders and your body tall and hollow.
  3. From the iron cross, inhale and begin leaning your chest forward while maintaining straight elbows and active shoulder depression, letting your hips rise behind you in a smooth arc.
  4. Continue the fall until your torso passes horizontal; rotate the rings inward as needed and extend your hips so your body forms a straight‑line back‑lever facing the floor.
  5. Pause briefly in the back lever, squeezing lats, chest, and glutes to hold a rigid hollow body.
  6. Reverse the motion (or tuck and roll through) to exit safely, returning to support or lowering to the ground under control.
