Technique

How to perform Maltese Box Press

  1. Place two stable plyo boxes side by side with room for your body between them and support under your shoulders and arms.
  2. Lay your straight arms across the tops with your palms flat on the boxes.
  3. Press into the supports and lift your feet clear while straightening your hips and knees into one long body line.
  4. Keep the elbows straight and body shape fixed as you raise the hips above your head through the supported shoulder arc.
  5. Continue until the body is vertical, without changing this into a bent-arm press.
  6. Reverse the arc under control, maintaining the straight body as you lower.
  7. Return your feet to the floor before releasing the supported setup.
