Technique

How to perform Pike Handstand

  1. Place both hands about shoulder-width apart on the floor with your fingers spread and enter a controlled freestanding handstand.
  2. Keep your elbows straight and push the floor away to maintain elevated shoulders rather than pulling them down away from your ears.
  3. Bend at the hips and bring both legs forward together, extending the knees so the legs approach horizontal.
  4. Adjust your shoulder and hip position over the hands while keeping the torso controlled and avoiding an uncontrolled collapse into a deeper fold.
  5. Maintain the pike shape with small pressure adjustments through the hands; do not substitute a bent-knee tuck for the final hold.
  6. Return the legs toward a straight handstand or use your established controlled handstand exit.
