Ring Handstand
Technique
How to perform Ring Handstand
- Adjust the rings so they hang just below hip height and press into a solid support hold with your elbows locked, rings slightly turned out, and shoulders depressed.
- Tuck your knees toward your chest, leaning forward slightly as you lift your hips; continue rotating until your feet rise overhead and your shoulders stack directly above your hands.
- Straighten your legs and ankles together, squeezing your glutes and core to establish a tight hollow body with the rings turned out and elbows fully locked - this is your freestanding handstand on rings.
- Maintain balance, actively depressing your shoulders, and making small adjustments while keeping your gaze on a point between your hands.
- Hold the handstand for the prescribed duration, breathing steadily and maintaining a rigid line from wrists through shoulders, hips, and heels.
- To exit, tuck your knees back toward your chest, lower your hips under control to return to a stable support hold, and then step or hop down to the floor.
