Ring Shoulderstand
Technique
How to perform Ring Shoulderstand
- Adjust the rings so they hang just above waist height and press into a solid support hold with arms fully extended, rings turned slightly out, and shoulders depressed.
- Engage your core and lean your torso slightly forward as you tuck your knees, lifting your hips until they begin to rise above the rings.
- Straighten your legs upward while simultaneously allowing your feet to drift slightly behind you, keeping elbows locked and maintaining active shoulder depression.
- Lower your hips toward the rings and rest the top of each ring lightly against the outside of your shoulders, forming a vertical line from shoulders through hips and feet - this is your shoulderstand position.
- Hold the shoulderstand, breathing steadily and squeezing your glutes, quads, and core to keep your body rigid while pressing gently through the rings for balance.
- To exit, tuck your knees, roll your hips back down under control, and extend your legs to return to a stable support hold before stepping off or lowering to the floor.
