How to perform One-Arm Handstand Progression

  1. Kick or press up into a solid freestanding handstand with both hands shoulder-width apart, elbows locked, and a tight hollow body.
  2. Shift your gaze slightly toward the balancing hand and begin leaning your hips and shoulders over that side, pressing harder through the palm and fingertips while keeping the opposite arm straight.
  3. Lighten the opposite hand by rolling from full palm to fingertips, then to just the index and middle fingers, maintaining control through your core, glutes, and active shoulder depression.
  4. Practice brief taps: lift the lightened hand completely off the floor for 1–2 seconds, hovering close in case you need to regain balance, then place it back down under control.
  5. Progress by increasing the hover time and narrowing your base - bring the supporting shoulder directly over the wrist and tuck the free arm to your side or across your torso without twisting your hips.
  6. Alternate sides each set, accumulating quality holds while maintaining a straight line through wrist, shoulder, hips, and ankles, and always exit safely by cartwheeling or stepping down when balance is lost.
