Technique

How to perform Straddle L Sit

  1. Sit on the floor with your legs extended, then open them into a comfortable straddle roughly 90 – 120 degrees.
  2. Place your hands flat on the ground between your thighs, fingers pointing forward and elbows locked.
  3. Press your palms firmly into the floor, depress your shoulders, and engage your core and hip flexors.
  4. Exhale as you straighten your elbows and lift your hips and heels off the ground simultaneously, keeping both legs locked, toes pointed, and knees facing the ceiling. Your hips should hover in line with your hands while your torso remains upright.
  5. Hold the straddle “L” position - legs forming a wide V and torso at a 90‑degree angle - while breathing steadily and maintaining a neutral neck. Focus on pushing the floor away to keep your shoulders active.
  6. Lower your hips and heels gently back to the floor under control to return to the starting position.
  7. Repeat for the recommended number of holds or the prescribed time.
