Technique

How to perform Straddle Press Handstand

  1. Place your hands shoulder-width apart on the floor with fingers spread and arms locked.
  2. Lean your shoulders forward over your wrists as you open your legs into a wide straddle, hips slightly bent.
  3. Engage your core and press the floor away, lifting your feet while maintaining the straddle and allowing your hips to rise without jumping.
  4. Straighten your hips as you continue pressing, floating your legs upward in a wide arc until they stack over your shoulders and wrists.
  5. Bring your legs together at the top to achieve a straight handstand, keeping your body tight and shoulders depressed.
  6. Lower under control or step down after holding for the prescribed time.
